Mr. Lionel Mbafumoya Tchomba is a student from the Belgium Campus who is currently finishing his 3rd year in Software Engineering.

Lionel has received the opportunity to do his internship at Siemens in Belgium.  He will be working on the Walkinside Development Team, he will mainly be programming and testing the Walkinside software which is a plant engineering software. The software allows those using it to 3D visualise a plant before it is built, after it is built for monitoring purposes and to train the future user of the plan.

Lionel transitioned from a traditional university to Belgium Campus, he says the main difference between Belgium Campus and a traditional university is that at the Belgium Campus he feels like he’s not just a number, that he is known by his lecturers by name whereas at a traditional university there were so many in a classroom and he felt like he didn’t get any attention and assistance.

Mr. Mbafumoya Tchomba received four job offers, one in Durban, two in Gauteng and the position from Siemens Belgium.  He decided to go to Siemens in Belgium because he wants to further his studies and Siemens Belgium allows him to do this, he also wants to broaden his horizons, by experiencing new cultures and meeting new people in Belgium.
