For the subject Academic Leadership (Belgium Campus’ mentoring programme) our students got the challenge to take part in or to organise their own community project. A lot of students are involved in such a project.
Twelve of our students went to Wollies Animal Project in Pretoria North; a local community project that takes care of neglected and abused animals. The students did a lot of cleaning work, gave the animals fresh water and food, checked the animals’ health, but most important gave the animals attention and love by playing with them. For the students Wollies is “a great project because they are helping animals that have no home and they are reuniting people with their lost pets”. Our students enjoyed the day very much and they learned a valuable life lesson: “We can make a difference by doing something small”. You will hear soon about our other community projects.
