Altreonic visits Belgium Campus

A Workshop with Global Reach!

Specialist Belgian software company Altreonic visited Belgium Campus to host a workshop with our 3rd Year students on the 7 October 2014.

Altreonic is based in Linden, just outside of Leuven and specialises in creating software solutions for a multitude of industries. Their core focus is on software, but engineering and hardware solutions do form part of their business model. Thanks to their experience and in-house R&D department, Altreonic has been involved in many exciting projects including the development of novel real time operating systems using formal methods, a drive project to develop a common automotive safety work-flow system and many more.

The aim of the workshop was to introduce students to the company, their capabilities and give students the opportunity to understand and learn how to use their software systems. The workshop was a day long event hosted by Altreonic CEO Mr Eric Verhulst, together with Dr. Bernhard Sputh. During the workshop students were introduced to the systems used and created by Altreonic.

The main focus of the workshop was on a programming model called Event Hub and students were taken through the steps of how to use it. This included event implementation, the event module, work package planning, general kernel services and functionality and specific actions.

The goal of workshops like these is to introduce our students to new, real world software advances and show them what is happening on a global scale with global companies. Ultimately, events like these open up new opportunities to our students, who may go on to work for companies like Altreonic in the future.
